The short answer

  • What launched: the 14-inch MacBook Pro with M6 (from ₹2,39,900), the iMac with M6 (from ₹1,74,900) and an iPad mini with an OLED screen (from ₹82,900).
  • Also on 28 October: a separate MacBook Pro with a touch-capable OLED “PROLED XDR” display, in 14 and 16 inches, with M5 Pro or M5 Max chips (not M6). Apple India lists it from ₹3,49,900 (14-inch, M5 Pro; education ₹3,31,900) up to ₹5,89,900 for the 16-inch M5 Max, as a pre-order available from 9 November.
  • When: the M6 models opened for pre-order on 28 October 2026; in stores and deliveries from 6 November 2026.
  • What changed on the M6 MacBook Pro: a faster 2nm M6 chip, double the Neural Engine, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6 and 1TB storage as standard. The design, screen and ports are the same as M5.
  • Upgrade? Yes from Intel or M1 if you use AI tools or 3D apps. Not worth it from an M4 or M5.

Prices from Apple India’s press releases, 27 October 2026. Earlier in October Apple also launched home products (HomePod mini 2, a new Apple TV 4K and the HomeView hub); we’ve left those out here.

Also announced 28 October: the OLED MacBook Pro

On 28 October Apple added a second, separate MacBook Pro line. Its official name is the MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR Display, in 14-inch and 16-inch sizes. Apple’s US release describes a touch-capable tandem OLED screen with a Dynamic Island. It uses M5 Pro or M5 Max, not M6. The M6 chip appears only in the 14-inch mini-LED MacBook Pro above.

PROLED XDR MacBook Pro Chip India price (from) Education price
14-inch M5 Pro, 15-core CPU, 16-core GPU, 24GB, 1TB ₹3,49,900 ₹3,31,900
16-inch M5 Pro, 18-core CPU, 20-core GPU ₹4,09,900 ₹3,85,900
14-inch M5 Max, 18-core CPU, 32-core GPU ₹5,49,900 ₹5,12,900
16-inch M5 Max, 18-core CPU, 32-core GPU ₹5,89,900 ₹5,52,900
How to read these India prices

These are the starting prices of each size and chip on Apple India’s store (apple.com/in) and its education store (apple.com/in-edu), read on 31 October 2026. Apple shows them as MRP inclusive of all taxes. The page is a pre-order and says “Available from 9.11”, which we read as 9 November, three days after the M6 models.

What moves the price: nano-texture glass is +₹18,000 (education +₹16,200). On the 14-inch M5 Pro, the 18-core CPU and 20-core GPU is +₹38,000. On the M5 Max, the 40-core GPU is +₹36,000 on the 14-inch and +₹44,000 on the 16-inch, and it needs the 48GB memory upgrade. The 14-inch M5 Pro offers 24GB or 48GB memory and 1TB to 4TB storage; the M5 Max goes up to 128GB and 16TB.

Apple India also advertises up to 6 months of No Cost EMI and up to ₹15,000 instant cashback on selected Macs with eligible cards. Check at checkout whether it applies to this model.

Source: Apple India store pages (apple.com/in and apple.com/in-edu), 31 October 2026, and Apple newsroom, 28 October 2026. Other specs from Apple’s US release: 14.2-inch and 16.3-inch screens. Apple sets Indian prices separately from US ones, so do not convert dollar prices.

The M6 chip in 30 seconds

M6 first appeared in the Mac mini in August 2026 and is Apple’s first chip built on a 2-nanometre process. The 14-inch MacBook Pro and the iMac now use it too.

How much faster is M6? Apple’s numbers

These are Apple’s own test figures (27 October 2026), not independent benchmarks. Expect real-world gains on everyday work like browsing and Office to be much smaller.

8 things to know before you buy

  1. The 16GB model misses the faster memory. MacRumors reports the 170GB/s bandwidth only applies to the 24GB and 32GB models. If you run local AI models, choose 24GB or more.
  2. It starts at 1TB. There’s no cheaper 512GB version, so you pay for storage whether you need it or not.
  3. Wi-Fi 7 needs a Wi-Fi 7 router. On most Indian home routers (Wi-Fi 5 or 6) you won’t notice a difference.
  4. Still two external screens. For three or more, you need a Pro or Max chip.
  5. This is the base chip. Apple hasn’t announced M6 Pro or M6 Max. The Pro and Max MacBook Pros, including the new OLED models, use M5 Pro and M5 Max.
  6. Siri AI is a beta. It ships with macOS 27, some server features have daily limits, Apple says expanded access will be paid later, and it isn’t available to under-13s.
  7. Fast charging costs extra if you need a bigger adapter. 50% in 30 minutes needs a 96W adapter or higher (₹8,900 from Apple).
  8. The touchscreen OLED MacBook Pro is a different model. Apple announced it on 28 October with M5 Pro or M5 Max, from ₹3,49,900 in India (14-inch). If you want the newest screen, that is the one to look at; the M6 model keeps the mini-LED display.

Should you upgrade to the M6 MacBook Pro?

Your Mac now Upgrade? Why
Intel MacBook (2016–2020) Yes macOS 27 doesn’t support Intel Macs. Apple says you gain up to 14 hours of battery life. If ₹2.4 lakh is too much, a used M1 or M2 is also a big upgrade.
M1 / M1 Pro If you use AI or 3D apps Up to 13× faster AI and 11.7× faster Blender (Apple figures), plus up to 4 hours more battery life. For email, Office and browsing, your M1 is still fine.
M2 / M3 Probably not Worth it only if you need local AI, Wi-Fi 7 or 165Hz external screens.
M4 / M5 No M6 is a chip bump on the same design. Skip this generation.

iMac with M6: what’s new

The 24-inch iMac keeps its 4.5K, 500-nit screen and design. Inside it gets M6 with up to a 12-core CPU and GPU. Apple says it is up to 5× faster at on-device AI and up to 2× faster at graphics than the M4 iMac. It also adds Wi-Fi 7, optional 2.5Gb Ethernet, up to four Thunderbolt 4 ports, support for two 6K displays and a 12MP Center Stage camera. Prices start at ₹1,74,900.

iPad mini (2026): OLED at last

Apple calls this the iPad mini’s biggest update ever. It has an 8.5-inch OLED screen (up to 1,200 nits, nano-texture optional) and the A20 Pro chip. It is 5.4mm thin with IP67 water and dust resistance. There’s Wi-Fi 7 and Apple’s C2 modem on cellular models, it works with Apple Pencil Pro, and comes in midnight or starlight with 128GB, 256GB or 512GB. Prices start at ₹82,900.
